Culture of Thinking

Picture
In an effort to make higher order thinking more accessible to all students, our district is engaged in an initiative to develop a stronger culture of thinking in our schools.  This initiative is based on the research of Project Zero from Harvard University and the text by Ron Ritchhart, Mark Church and Karin Morrison titled Making Thinking Visible: How to Promote Engagement, Understanding and Independence for All Learners along with Ron Ritchhart's follow-up book, Creating Cultures of Thinking: The 8 Forces We Must Master to Truly Transform Our Schools. We are fortunate to be able to partner with our intermediate school district, Oakland Schools, to join Ron Ritchhart and districts from around the county in studying instructional routines that enhance the learning process for our students and cultural forces that impact learning.

This website is a documentation of our story as we uncover ideas about teaching and learning. We are excited to have you join us in the thinking and learning!
